This video is a fake. This man is clearly trying to self promote himself because the editing in this video is far too similar to the editing used in ‘Paranormal Activity’. Plus this same thing happened to someone last year.

This is the actual story in which a man in Fukuoka, Japan found a homeless woman living in his closet and stealing food. He installed a security camera and discovered the woman sneaking around his apartment when he was gone.

I find it highly unlikely that this guy in New York had the exact same problem, and had not heard of this new story prior to releasing his supposedly real video. There is not one single factual news story either about the man in New York which seems just a bit odd ( especially in this day in age of instant news).
